HOW TO REPOT YOUR PLANTS! We’re giving away all of our secretsđź¤
Hello, hello! SPRING IS HERE. That means it’s time to repot your plants, sunshine. How exciting. OK OK, one sec. Is it really time to repot them? Maybe!
Ask yourself these questions…
Are roots coming out of the soil or out of the drainage hole? yes? congrats! your plant is ready for a bigger pot! We recommend going up a couple inches in pot size in height and diameter. However, at a point, you’re going to have to stop upgrading your pot sizes…you might be running out of room. If that’s the case, just add topsoil!
Is your plant struggling? Do you notice bugs on the leaves? Are your leaves / stems rotting? Are you noticing signs of fungus or bacteria? it’s time for FRESH SOIL!
OK you’ve decided…if it’s time to repot your plants, here ya go!
Get all your supplies, tarp, new pot, tray, and allllll the soil! (see our other blog for soil details).
Carefully remove the plant from it’s old pot. If it’s a plastic pot you can squeeze it to release the plant. If it’s a ceramic or hard pot, you can use a little shovel to loosen it around the edges.
Massage the roots…carefully! so the roots/plant can grow into the new soil you want the roots out of their old formation. but be gentle and don’t overdo it, especially with a fiddle!
Put a looser layer of soil in the bottom of the new pot, set your rootball/plant in and see if it’s the appropriate height, adjust as needed.
Then add your soil mixture! You want to firmly push down with your fist around the base of the plant, to remove any air pockets and stabilize the plant. Add more and push down again if needed.
Add a layer of loose soil on top!
Water with rooting stimulant + plant food.
Dust the leaves with neem.
